I bought this exact ring, only with pink sapphires, at an antique mall several years ago. When I tried to research it to see what time period it was the best conclusion I could come to was that it was a 1950s cocktail ring. So imagine my surprise to see that this ring design is still being made (or maybe mine isn't as old as I thought). This ring is stunning with garnets and marcasites - marcasite has been around for centuries, however the marcasite we wear today is actually iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold. It's a close relative of marcasite, but is much sturdier and won't turn to dust like real marcasite if it isn't handled carefully.
